“The Woodcutter”

role: DIRECTOR

genre: SHORT

format: SUPER-8

duration: 3min

This film was made using an experimental process of filming and editing in HD then re-framing each image to 4:3, changing the frame-rate to 18fps and printing out each individual frame using a low grade B/W printer.  The resulting 3173 prints were then backlit using a lightbox and filmed stop-frame using a super-8mm camera.  The intention of this process was to give the finished film a papery, crinkled and ‘lost’ kind of aesthetic.

The film was entered into the Straight8 film festival 2008 and was shown in Brick Lane, London.
